Interactive Brokers offers electronic access to multiple financial markets. If you want operate with Interactive Brokers, you can use several options:
- TWS (Trader WorkStation): it's an application developed by Interactive Brokers to final users, where you can buy/sell stocks, futures, options... with an interface developed in Java.
- API's: Interactive Brokers has a complet API that allows to develop custom trading software connecting directly to TWS.
sgcTrader connects directly to TWS using sockets and uses all Interactive Brokers API functions to download quotes, send buy/sell orders, get portfolio status... and includes several functions and utilities to improve operations with Interactive Brokers.
